| Name | Erich von Harben |
| 1. Favorite book and why? |
The trilogy of A Princess of Mars, The Gods of Mars, The Warlord of Mars form one long story. This is the best. It is closely followed bt the Tarzan trilogy being: Tarzan of the Apes, The Return of Tarzan, The Beasts of tarzan.
These two trilogies tell a great story. Plenty of action, heroic behaviou, and unforgettable characters.
I have read these so often since 1962 that I have long ago lost count Really great stuff, maynatd!!
|
| 2. Least favorite book and why? |
I have read evey book by Edgar Rice Burroughs at least twice, and many numerous times.
There is NO worst book for me from ERB! There are soime that are a little weak with reworked plots, but that never stopped me from a re=read
If I were forced to pick the choice would be a toss up between Land of Terror ans Tarzan and the Leopard Men.
|
| 3. Favorite scene in favorite book and why? |
In the Beasts of tarzan where Sheeta, the panther, flattens itself on the deck of the Kinkaid stalking Nickolas Rokoff, arcvillan. The death of that evil bastard is refreshing, and I wish it had happened sooner. all that was left of Rokoff in the morning was the head and a few bones.
The great scene with Fulvus Fupus doing a beyy flop in Tarzan and the Lost Empire is my favourite FUNNY scene.
|
| 4. Favorite character and why? |
Tie between tarzan of the Apesa and John Carter of Mars. Depending what I am reading is the way I lean. David Innes of Pellucidar is great too.
|
| 5. Which character do you identify most with and why? |
Erich von harben in Tarzan and the Lost Empire. It is my nom on the Edgar Rice Burroughs mailing lists (ERBlist and ERB COF).
Always liked ancient Rome, and read extensively on the subject. I was not as great in ancient lating as E vH, but the nuns and prists drilled a lot into me before I escaped.
Great character.
|
| 6. If you could see a sequel to one of the author's books, which would it
be and what would it be about? |
Beyond the farthest Sta. I believe that ERB was planning two more novellettes to complete the book, but never got to it.
|
| 7. What do you like about author's writing style? |
Lots of action with great UNforgettable characters
Fantastic scenery with grand attentrion to geograpical and historical detail.
|
| 8. What are your favorite themes of this author? |
Like them all!!!!!!!!
|
| 9. What could be most improved about this authors books? |
Be place3d back in print!!!
Not a lot of sex or meaningless violence here. Refreshing to read stories from the 1912 - 1948 period when things were different. ERB is a time portal to a past period of time like Sherlock Holmes is to the Victorian era.
