1. Favorite book and why?
I actually have two favourites: Hot Money and Proof with a few others coming close too, but these are without doubt, the favourites. Perhaps because the heroes in both these books are more vulnerable, more open about feelings and both have a ripping good storyline. My other favourite has to be "To the Hilt" which I am reading now for the upteenth time.

2. Least favorite book and why?
Has to be the Sid Halley books. I know they are the most critically acclaimed but Sid is so buttoned up, he brings most of his own miseries on himself! They are also the most cruel I think.

3. Favorite scene in favorite book and why?
Definitely the scene in "To the Hilt" where the gender swapping disguised private investigator comes to Alexander's aid with the help of a bus full of drunk yahooing football fans - it's so funny

4. Favorite character and why?
Tony in "Proof". Why? I liked the way he was developed into a really sympathetic character I could identify with immediately. He was a man I could like, feel for and empathise with totally

5. Which character do you identify most with and why?
See answer in 4. Same thing

6. If you could see a sequel to one of the author's books, which would it be and what would it be about?
Proof would be a good one because Tony actually helps an investigator (and also the police) solve the crime. The investigator (who was also a great character) specialised in corporate crime which leaves the scope of the plot wide open and could bring in Tony's expertise with wine and spirits (as he did with Proof)

7. What do you like about author's writing style?
Dick Francis has the first person genre down to a fine art. Contrary to what has been said, I don't think any of his heroes are alike in their character or how they react to a given situation. He handles this very intimate genre so well, he's a joy to read.

8. What are your favorite themes of this author?
My favourite theme is the fact that, apart from the horses theme which has become more secondary over the years, there is no real theme anymore except for how an ordinary person copes with an extraordinary situation.

9. What could be most improved about this authors books?
They could perhaps have a little more serious man/woman relationships. Considering that Mr Francis has been happily married for over 50 years, his heroes don't have a lot of luck!

Something about yourself
I am a graphic designer for a national Australian law firm and have loved reading since I was old enough to hold a book. I love good murder mystery yarns, history and well written sagas and my favourite authors are, of course, Dick Francis, Michael McGarrity, Jonathan Kellerman and Patricia Cornwell. I'm 53 and live with my Mum and our miniature foxie dog, Mitzi.
