These are amazing!!!I only read Daves first two books (a Child called it and The Lost Boy) and A Brothers Journey but i already know that these boys(men) have gone through alot. People are calling Richard a liar but i do believe that he isn't. His story is much like Daves and why would they lie. I think that would be horrible if they did and i really dont think they did it for the money. They just did it to help other children who are going through the same thing he went through. I really hope to meet both of them and talk to them. For i believe they are wonderful men. by the way, Im only 12

i read David Pelzer (A Child Callled It) that book touched my heart. it made me truly see that i take alot of things i have for granteed like my mom when she gets on too me (im only 12) or when she cooks something i dont want to eat for dinner. i thought thought i had it bad but when i read this book i cried and just wanted to thank my mom and dad for all theyve given and done for me. this book and the lost boy are truly touching and they tought me what courage really was.

I can relate to both Dave and Richard my mother did the same thing to me and my other brother and sister. Even thought I was removed at the tender age of 4 my early memories are from at least 10 months old and see my mother drunk and strung out from drugs.
I as I got older the beating got worse and when I finally got out of there I wished someone would help my other sisters (3) and brother (1) help them escape from her (my mother).
But now I'm 22 years old and see that it was the drugs and drinking and a line of her father beating her, she learned it from somewhere and they learned it so I'm not mad but, really fell sorry for them.

I read the book by Dave Pelzer (A child called it) and I was so moved by the things that child endured I cannot imagine a child going thru such horrible things. I am now reading A Brother's Journey and still I can't believe the things that this poor child suffered everyday of his young life. I am truly touched by their stories. I hope that they will someday make a movie about their lifes.

If you notice, in David's book, the boy who planted the sandwiches on David was Russell. This is Richard. All the brother's names have the first initial the same at each age level.. These names are changed for anonimity. Richard and his brothers exchange cards during holidays etc but because of thier past, were never able to form a brotherly bond. As previously mentioned, a manipulation of the Mother.

I, too, question why the brothers' names change from Dave's books to Richard's. I am totally confused as to whom is to whom! Is this for anonymity???????

I have been reading all the Pelzer books. These men are such pillars of strength! I was thrilled to find Richard's book after reading all of Dave's. It was real eye opener to hear how the rest of the family handeled it when one child was removed from the home. But personally, I feel both parents are equally responsible for what all five of these boys went through. The father is just as guilty for neglecting to remove all his sons from a situation like this. Reguardless of what one brother may have done to contribute or enable the abuse that was going on in that home, it was all master minded by the mother she knew what control she had over each of them. She herself was probably a victim of child abuse as well.

What I have to say will take two post so please bare with me. Richard did not commit suicide. I know him persoanlly and have recieved an email from him very recently. He has a unique support system and has healed tremendously.

Richard B Pelzer died? Are you sure? That's awful. Where did you hear that? I can't find it anywhere. I feel bad for both the brothers. I believe both of them, I don't think any of them are lying. They were both amazing books.
