Thanks, Ashley, for your kind words in
relation to An Hour To Kill. The Crystal Todd-Ken Register case was so disturbing, it will never be forgotten by those who were involved and by those
who watched it unfold. The rumor is just that-a rumor-and, though there was some talk about a film at one time,
we've not received any word to confirm
that. I am amazed, however, at the number of young teens in Horry County who have read An Hour To Kill. Just recently a local high school contact me and said all their hardback copies had been stolen from the library and wanted to know if we had any left. Fortunately, we had saved a few dozen and were able to provide the school library with those copies.

I actually live in Aynor and had heard others talk about An Hour To Kill. It's crazy how something like this happened so close to home. Of course I was only a child when it happend but my parents remember it very well. This book was written very well! Thanks for sharing this story. So many times crimes like these get overlooked and you changed that. Also, I heard a rumor that Steven Spielberg may be making a movie...is this true, and have you had any request in making a movie out of this?

book. Ken Register is still in prison and appears to be a model prisoner.
The last I heard he was responsible for all prison facility's heating/cooling. I've heard several times that his mother and father are now divorced and that Bonnie Todd suffers from cancer. Sad to say, for
all those involved, but my guess is
they still live that moment in their
dreams and every night they close their eyes. Thanks for posting. After
my November 15 deadline, I am going to rebuild my website, so be on the lookout for that.

I am interested in where Ken Register is now. I have not been able to find any updates. Your book was terrific! I love to read True Crime, then find out what has happened since the book was written. Thanks for any help.

Sure, James, I am always glad to help anyone who is just getting started. We all have to start somewhere. I am curious though as to where the article appeared. Was it your hometown paper and are you a journalist?

An article appeared in our paper today about your book, Die, Grandpa, Die. I will try to get it tomorrow. I have done a great deal of research on a story and have three chapters completed. Although I've done a great deal of writing in my work, this is my first effort at a novel/true story. I wonder if you would be willing to give me some advice about things like legal issues when you write about a crime by someone who is currently serving time.

I finished An Hour to Kill in about 3 days! It was a fascinating read. I am now waiting on my mom to bring me another of your books to read. I hope to meet you when you visit in September.

Thanks, Sherry, it was a very complicated case. Not only was it tedious and filled with psychiatric and psychopharmalogical jargon, it was
just a very emotional case for everyone involved. I was very pleased though in that the book offers a nice glimpse into the lives of Joe and Joy Pittman. As it normally goes in any case, they were almost forgotten. IMO, the book bought them back into the story.
I hope you enjoy An Hour To Kill. It, too, is a fascinating story. The Crystal Todd murder occurred in my hometown and became the subject of my first book. It's like your first kiss,
you never forget it.
And, yes, I enjoyed being with your family so much. Sometime in September, I plan to take another trip to Fayetteville. If all goes as planned, I should be finished with the mss. on this story by November. I look forward to seeing you then.

I can only imgine how hard it was to research and write that book, with all the confliction opinions and information. It was hard to read and form an opinion on his situation. That was really a complex case. I am about to begin another one of your books - An Hour to Kill. You gave my mom and sister some books and we are trading them all around, taking turns reading them. I look forward to talking with you soon.
