I just finsihed reading "Shadow of the Wind" By Carlos ruiz Zafon and all I can say is that it was and is a truly great novel. So much so that I was in Kauai, Hawaii and turned down a luau to finish the last chapters of the book because I was in a trance. What a captivating novel. I am an addict.

as my frist real adult book the shadow of the wind blew me away, then engrosed me within its pages, hating the moment it would end because i would have to leave the lives of carax and daniel. after spending many a late night up with this book i will badly miss it.
I dearly wish there to be a follow up book, for, no matter how many friends you have aquired theres no better company than a book, and for a while we became the greatest of friends.

The Shadow of the Wind is in my opinion one of the best novels ever written. Does anyone know where I can get hold of any of his other work in English?
The translation into English by Lucia Graves is fantastic.
I really hope that Carlos and Lucia work together again on any new novel.
Please Carlos, you have many fans out there so keep writing, and get them translated. I will treasure your book forever!

I, too, have just finished reading "Shadow of the Wind" by Carlos Ruiz Zafon. All day today I could not pay attention in any of my classes; I didn't see my friends at break or lunch because I snuck off to be alone with Daniel and Julian; I had my head in the clouds because of this book; it was spellbinding. I'm still in a poetic stratisphere because of the effect of "Shadow of the Wind"! I think the ending of this book was the first time I ever cried reading something. If there was a way to talk to Mr. Zafon, I would probably be unable to put to words how amazing his book was and what an impact it had on me.

i just finished reading this book after 3 days of living 2 lives, i say this because of how much Shadow of the wind has affected me, I didnt want it to end at all. I wanted to be living the lives of the characters and to belong to julien carax becasue i was so charmed by him. I wanted fermin as my best friend and advisor and i wanted to be there to witness all that happened. Since i finished the book about 2 hours ago theres been a void that i need to be filled. Never before has any book affected me so badly, this guy is such an amazing writer and i just felt i needed to express myself SOMEWHERE that this book is the best thing ive ever read and just like Daniel was taken in by his story i was taken into this.

My second reading produced more appreciation and wonderment than the first which enthralled me. It's the book club choice for this month (at my urging) and I'm anxious to hear what others thought and felt. I found more shadows, poetry, stirring images, and deeper characterization this second reading. Reading others' comments here, I think I've found some companions who love good books.
