Like everyone on this blog, I have been waiting for years for the third book. I have given the first 2 books as gifts as well so there are two other people desperately waiting for the third book. It is unbelievable that the author and any information on Shadows Past has disappeared into the ether. I am sure there is a huge fan base as the first in the series was a recommendation from my specialist local Sci-Fi/Fantasy bookshop (who couldn't provide an update either). Penguin's communication leaves everything to be desired!

I've been waiting for the third book for almost three years, now it seems like I won't be getting it at all. It's frustrating, not being able to continue with such an addicting series. The Borderlands series have captivated me and now it won't let go!

I think it's time Ms. Freeman sent that book to another publishing company. I really hate not knowing what happens!

I was wondering, why can't Lorna freeman just simply create an ebook or some type of internet access to the book for a certain specific price? I'm desperate and I can't wait for the publisher to finally decide to print the book. i want the book. i have been waiting for a year for it.

I'll admit I'm a speed reader but I read Covenant 7 times before slowing a
little, waited a month and read again.
NOT my typical reaction to a new author. Bought another copy. Read
number 2 borderlands several times and
was holding my breath almost for no. 3. A bookstore owner once gave me free copy of lst Rob. Jordan Wheel of
Time to review because he'd noticed what I loved sold well. My opinion is
the series both hadn't had time enough
to become as widely noticed as it deserved, and the cover made it a little to similar to dragonlance series (Dzitt exception) with its shallow characters. Please tell me if
no. 3 or 4 becomes available, even if
ebook or computer disc format. Helen

Okay, please note that the following is hearsay, and I don't have it direct from publisher or author!
I have read elsewhere that the book was cancelled by the publisher. Further, they own the rights to book 3--possibly 4 as well, I'm not sure. For whatever reason, they are stonewalling, and Ms. Freeman is unable to publish her work legally.
I hope they get it sorted out, but basically, I think she (and we) are getting hosed.

Why oh why does it happen when you find a really good author they either drop dead or do a disappearing act. Have been reading the comments on this forum for the last year or so and i am glad there is finally some hope (okay very limited hope admittedly but hope) the 3rd book may be published but i am confused by the mention of the reckoning flame? pls can someone explain. Regards

Seems likely that the Freeman is moving, willingly or not, to another imprint - the 2 earlier titles are seemingly no longer available to order new from the publisher for store and online order restocking. On hand inventory is only what's currently in bookstore warehouses. This includes Barnes & Noble, Borders, Amazon, etc. I'm hoping that someone wisely has seen this series as an amazingly great Teen imprint, ala' Harry Potter. Great for adults and young readers both. One can only hope. And Lorna, if you're out there - get an online site - it can only help your future sales!

This is great news! I take it to mean that Shadows Past is not lost to us. I will check out the site right now.
