ken palmer - the story I think you are referring to is a (short) story called "Consider Her Ways". To paraphrase (a lot) a virus kills off men.
If you do an internet search you should turn up more info and possibly some second hand copies.

I am looking for a short story by John that deals with women taking over the world! Or women procreating without the input of men. I am told that there is such a story but the informant was unable to remenber the name of the book!

Zion - I read it much later in life but enjoyed it immensely. Read the midwich cuckoos too - it's interesting to compare them. In some ways its the same story from a different viewpoint, although the children in the later are definately not quite the same friendly ones in Crysalids.

I loved the Chrysalids! I'll have to read it again in a few years though, some of the parts were kinda hard to understand. My Dad told me to read it and I wish all the books he'd tell me to read were like that. :D
