What's the word fans? Are we gonna see a new Chtorr book any time soon???

I've been wondering about the Grass books as well. My understanding is he has them written, they just need to be published. Here's hoping.

No offense taken, Jim. Gerrold is my favorite writer. I'm going to sing his praises, but I also can see his faults. Like I wrote before, the excerpt is actually a pretty difficult read, but is worth it. "The Involuntary Human," a retrospective designed for a sci-fi writers' convention, is a great combination of old and new, including a preferred version of "Chess With a Dragon". Personally, I'm not going to punish myself because he hasn't published the next book in the Chtorr series. I love reading his work. Why would I avoid new books/stories by an author whose work brings me joy? The Starsiders Trilogy was a great deal of fun to read. Besides, I'm pretty sure the Chtorr book is going to get published. I'm actually more worried about seeing the Sea of Grass trilogy completed. Has anybody heard his plans with that series? At any rate, I don't feel Gerrold has any obligation to me. He writes the books that he can write. I buy the books if I want to read them. See, I'm not obligated either. Neither are you, Jim. It will all work itself out. :-)

No offense Spooky, but you sound like a Carnival Barker for D.G. I will not purchase or read anything of his until "That Book" is in my hands. I find it remarkable D.G. can find the time to continue writing other things but can't, after over 17 years finish AMFM.

Just read "Dancer in the Dark" and it's up there with some of DG's early stuff--Deadlands, etc. He can be such a good writer sometimes (other times, just good diversion). Anywho, I recommend picking up a copy of "Involuntary Human" if you can find one (good luck!). Haven't read "It Needs Salt" yet, still undecided if I will....

Hi there, I've read it. It is psychotic. I mean, bugger-style crazy! Jim is ummm....different. And difficult. It is wonderful and frustrating all at once. The whole narrative is unlike anything I had ever read up until that point. I was having to WORK as a reader, which can be frustrating if I'm looking for simple escapist literature. But really, has this series ever been "simple?" It really is an amazing read. Go for it! It certainly made me eager for the whole deal. Let's hope the first four books see rerelease (hardback editions please).

Just started "The Involuntary Human" and am trying to decide if I'm going to read the Chtorr segment from book 6. I hate spoilers as a rule, but it's been a long time since I've read anything new that was Chtorrian.... Has anyone read the bit I'm talking about? two cents anyone...

He is on Facebook all the time. Has anyone asked him or does he de-friend you if you do?

Well, at least someone else is having trouble as well. I've tried to post a couple of times, but nothing has made it on. Jim, I noticed that publication date myself and was going to post on it. I tend to share your views on that date. Given that the editing/printing process takes 4-6 months, we may assume that DG hasn't turned in the manuscript yet. Now if we were talking about someone who had a novel out every year or so, I'd be encouraged, but we've seen these kind of dates come and go often. Honestly, I think we've been hearing 'next year' since 2003 or so. I believe that a Season for Slaughter was published in paperback in 1993. So we are coming up on 17 years of waiting. I'm glad I'm not holding my breath. I also did a bit of research via Google. No new info except for the publication date. DG's website HAS actually been updated in the last week or so with some new content, but nothing on the upcoming books.

This is my third attempt at posting this information - perhaps it wasn't detailed enough. So here goes.....Google A Method For Madness David Gerrold, click on the Amazon.com Method For Madness link, scroll down to Product Details. You will now find Tor Books publishing date of AMFM in July, 2011. Hope springs eternal...yeah, right.
