Yay, lucky you. Do please take photos and post them on the net if you can. Maybe you can see Sun Court at Hadleigh , which was the inspiration for The House at Old Vine

Woooo hoooo ! I'm off to Suffolk in May. Perhaps I'll get to see Bury St. Edmunds at last.
I'll see if I can find Northgate House, where she lived, and take a photograph of it.

Hi, Sylvia! I thought it was you who said on the other site that you were from Wheeling, but maybe I misread the comment. Anyway, for anyone from our Northern Panhandle, I recommend Zane Grey's Betty Zane. It's definitely not a western! (New P) I just posted my poem on you-know-where, but when it appeared, it wasn't formatted quite right, and once I edited it and it looked riyeara ght in the preview I seemed to have trouble reposting it. Now what? (New P) Once that obstacle is cleared, I'll see about doing a book for the map. I made notes inside the covers of quite a few several years ago.

Hi Mary! No, honest, it wasn't me, but I suspect Barbara! Or was this poster the one from Wheeling? I'm originally from Weirton which is just 20 miles N. of Wheeling, but live in Ohio now. No, My sil did not tell us you are now to the shoulder in snow! She lives in Dundalk on Plainfield Rd. I never read any Zane Grey books though I've driven past his museum many times in Zanesville, Ohio.
I think you should put the poem in the miscellaneous section. Have you picked out a NL book for the map study? It's under Layer Wood Map.

Sylvia, I just received an online newsletter from Goodreads. Might you have had anything to do with that? Anyway, I've joined the NL group there, so thank you, whoever arranged it! I think it was you who suggested that I post my poem there, so on which specific site? (New P) I see, too, that you're from Wheeling. Have you read Zane Grey's Wheeling trilogy? And where in Baltimore does your sister-in-law live? She's probably told you that we had ANOTHER blizzard yesterday! The snow is shoulder-high in some places!

I just posted, but it got rejected, so am trying briefly again . I wrote to the moderator , who replied ! But it was less than satisfactory , since he gave the reason for no quoting being allowed as for 'security reasons' - whatever that means - and not being allowed to post twice 'to stop spam'. No comment on inability to paragraph. Said he could only answer about the strange censoring if he knew exactly waht was said, and quoted a couple of samples, too stupid to repeat

Hi All! I have to admit, I do like this larger print. Mary, my SIL lives in Baltimore, and she's got 30 inches of snow, so I guess you do, too! Somewhere, Susan mentioned not having read your poem...would you want to write it out again? I found it at the very bottom of this discussion, but it is no longer posted.
I'm almost finished with Day of the Butterfly and things aren't looking good for Daisy/Hebe. Town House reread is next for me.
We've been mentioning a Norah Lofts Club, but I can't figure out how we would get started. Anybody?

How nice to read all these messages about Norah Lofts. I was about 19 when I read my first one The Town House. I found it in a mobile library visiting my village. I had never heaqrd of the author but as I liked historical novels I took it out. I think after the first few pages I was hooked and was thrilled to see how many others she had written. I am now 67, retired and cannot think of any other author whose books have given me so much pleasure.
How I wish I had thought to write to her. I think Baildon is based on Bury St |Edmonds. I am british and live in the Midlands, I really must visit Suffolk and Bury some time.
The Devil's Own published under Peter Curtis is one of my favourites. I remember seeing the film version with Joan Fontaine, which was disappoin ting. It would be great to have a NL club.

I'm also glad to see this board is active again - how nice to hear from everyone! Marion Langham, I would love to hear more about your correspondence with NL. Lucky you! Could you tell us more? I'd enjoy it very much!
