This is a simple request. I have never read any of Caleb Carr's books. I did though manage to pick up on something about him while I watched the interview on Sunday Morning. Mr. Carr I know YOU. I am very interested in talking to you. I will not discuss all the resons why on this site but I will give you a hint. I would like to be one of your cows! Destiny and visions are intrapped in the inner soul. What do you do when you have a vision and it turns out to be your destiny? I play around with writing myself and find it a calming release of inner passions. I am a country girl. Put me behind a fence and soon the cow in me would rather be butchered than live as s prisoner. I am going to read one of your books if YOU tell me which one You think is the best as far as your inner-self. I would like to share something with you and hope you see this text.

Although I have read both The Alienist and The Angel of Darkness, I am very much looking forward to reading your book "The Lessons of Terror". My 21 y/o daughter is preparing for her 3rd deployment to Iraq on July 1st and she has shared with me some of the suffering of the civilians she has come in contact with. As a parent and a woman who is trying to find logic in an irrational society, I am hoping your book will help add some clarity to my seeking.

I thought Mr Carr's ideas about the world in general are mostly true. But I also feel that our lives cannot be effected by anyone, we have total control of how we react to outer influences. I hope one day to meet Caleb Carr.

Thank you Mr. Carr for your comment on the barbarism of our future. You validated my thoughts on this subject. I feel few people take their heads out of the sand to face this reality.

Where can I get a transcript of the CBS interview with Caleb Carr on Sunday? I missed it.

As a self-proclaimed Queen of Doom, I find it reassuring that my cynical and pessimistic views on humanity are shared by someone as brilliant as Caleb Carr. These views are confirmed, and instilled on a daily basis. I.E: An advertisement overheard on the boob tube asking the public who they believe are the greatest Americans? I about choked when I heard the name Oprah Winfrey. Perhaps I'm premature in my judgement, as I choose to avoid most television unless it's educational or humorous, but being an 'American' I would hope that I'd be aware of some tremendous feat she has accomplished to better life for 'Us Americans', or the rainforests, or the fact that it's okay for humans to overpopulate geographical areas, but there must be a limit to the number of grizzly bears, wolves, mountain Lions, deer, etc., that inhabit what was once their land, for our own selfishness. Touche for the government allowing drilling in the Alaska refuge. Good old George and family need a bit more oil profits. Had I known the world was going to be as it is, I would have strangled myself with the unbilical cord.

Seems Caleb made quite an impression with many viewers this morning. I wondered the same thing the other person who posted, regarding a website or a way to get in touch with him. Then I realized he would not like the internet, therefore, probably would not delve there. I will be reading his books as well and doing some research of my own. As a teacher of elemenatary students, my observation of our move, as a society, or world, toward the new dark ages is clear, so I found it very fascinating to hear Caleb's views.

I love books, but unfortunately don't have much time to read. I was not familiar with Caleb Carr before seeing the interview this morning. I will now be reading his books. The comment about having to Want to be in the country to stay/live there is very true. It's very healing and calming. Lastly, when someone names their cows, that person is blessed with a very sentimental sweet heart.

I had never known of Mr. Carr before this piece on his home on Misery Mountain. I found his views about his lifestyle, refreshing and interesting. I live in much the same environment with an ironic twist my small farm is isolated and located on "Limbo Hollow." Does Mr. Carr have a website or correspond with private individuals? I realize this is a stab in the dark...can you help me?
