Greg, I took the liberty of editing your story and here is my advice and don’t take it badly, I think you should read some grammar books and some fiction thriller books, to see how they describe their characters and their characters actions. If you’re going to have extras [not the main characters] you have to tell us how they react to drastic changes. I agree. I'm the kinda of person who stops reading a book as soon as it doesn't interest me. But that I loved. It truly was a good beginning of a story. A great way to keep the reader curious and wanting to read more right off the bat.
