i started reading Isobelle Carmody books when i was in year 5. I started with the legendsong series and am now in year 9 and the final book - which may i add - was due in october 2007 has still not been released. Carmody is an amazing and original writer and used to be one of my favorites but her unreliability and pure unprofessionalism regarding release dates has put me in serious doubt about whether or not she truly is an author to last the ages,

The latest from Obernewtyn.net is that Isobelle Carmody herself wants the Sending to be released in February 2010 and Penguin wants it to be released in March... but either way the Sending is definitely coming out early next year!

I emailed Penguin Books and have been told by them that the latest release date for "The Sending" in Australia is Sep 2010. Sorry for the bad news. I am waiting for it too!

I am unsure if I am able to bear the weight of not knowing any longer!!! I wish the book would hurry up and be released before I have to resort to reading the last book in the Eragon trilogy... which would be a desperate act indeed! I want The Sending!!!

Yes, of course it's unlikely - after all, it is IC, and any date should be treated with caution. But September is the date that it's been set for by Penguin, apparently, and it makes sense. I'd hazard a guess and say anywhere between September and the following March. It's got to be early, because the U.S and Canada have a set-in-stone release date of late 2010, and we've got to get it before them.

Unfortunately I'd say that the 2009 release date for The Sending is unlikely - IC herself has given a release date of early 2010. I'm hoping it's not longer! *crosses fingers* That said, at least we now have the 5th Obernewtyn book (The Stone Key) to keep us going! (Or Wavesong and The Stone Key if you have the Random House books!) Darkbane will not be finished until after the Obernewtyn series is complete (IC has said she wants to finish the Obernewtyn books first, as it's her longest running series). Also, IC said at Convergence in 2007 that Alyzon Whitestarr is unlikely to have a sequel...
