Yeah i agre Adam.The books are great.One of my friends refuses to read them because she thinks Phillip Pulman controls you with them.And she hates him.

Meanwhile the book is still good but the love bit when the 'meet' in the other ones world is very soppy

Did anyone else think the end of the Amber Spyglass was really cheesey? I mean granted their in love but, they claim it's the love of their lives and they will never fall in love again! They're only 12!

I've read most of the Narnia books, I gave up after Voyage of the dawntreader though, it got way boreing. I can understand if Aslan are peoples favourite character, but love? not so sure.

I don't understand who could read the Narnia books and not fall completely in love with Aslan? :"He's not safe, but he's good." The subject of violence isn't really much of an issue in the Narnia books (though if you wanted to see Lewis's opinion on that score you could read his essay "Why I'm not a Pacifist") Aslan is a personification of love. He demands obedience, but only from those who serve Him and for their own good.

I absoloutly loved the Northern Lights, The Subtle knife and The Amber Spygalass! They were awsome! What did everyone else think of them?

I think Pullman drew influences from lots of authors; the similes used when Iorek and Iofur are fighting are almost identical in style to some in the 'Aeneid.' I see what you mean about cashing in on CS Lewis, but then again putting forward an opposing viewpoint could often be seen as that (e.g. religious books opposing ideas in the Da Vinci Code - they probably do make a lot of money but people would still have written them even if they didn't because they feel strongly about the subject.) Pullman used to be a Christian (I think...correct me if that's wrong!) so maybe he wanted to give an idea of what made him change his mind.
