There were two different actresses playing the same character, namely Helen Lynley. Only one Helen Lynley. I wish they didn't do that, but if one actress quits, what can they do.

I want to know if the Helen character is the same throughout the show. They did change the actress playing Helen. The one that died is another Helen, so my question is, "is it the same Helen?" or is this Helen, his second lady with the same name?

I did read What Happened Before He Shot Her. It took awhile before I realized that this wasn't one of those that followed one set of characters and switched to another. She does develope characters very well. Definately was different.

No one seems to have read What Happened Before He Shot Her. This refers to Helen being shot, of course. Interesting story and so unlike the other Havers/Lynley books. Has anyone else read it? It upset me greatly, the tragedy of it.

In an interview with Elizabeth George, I believe she stated that she was going to promote a previous DI to Weberly's position. She stated that she was going to bring in a character that was introduced in an earlier book. She described the character as a woman and 'fast burner'. I can only imagine that Havers is going to catch a lot of flack. Would have said a little stronger. I translate that to mean DI Emma Tate? that she took a shot at and got busted for it. Since I don't get out much, I may have missed this book already. I don't hold out a lot of hope for Havers/Lynley match. Their backgrounds are too different. He rode around with her for 4 or 5 hours and didn't tell her he had decided to pull the life support from Helen...

Does anyone know when we can expect a new book by Ms. George? There used to be a Forum on the Elizabeth George website, but that seems to be gone; so I have no source for announcements, rumors, etc. I'm so looking forward to the return of Lynley & Havers!

Has anyone read this book? I loved it until the end, which was very depressing.

As far as I know "A Place of Hiding" is the last book with Simon and Deborah as the main characters. My favourite character is Barbara Havers. It will be interesting to see where the storylines go now that Helen is dead and Tommy out (at least for now).

I am surprised that there are negative postings for this book. I loved the resolution of the Simon/Deborah relationship. My question: Is Hiding the last of the St.James' storyline?
