I read the pit dragon series from the school library many years ago, I remembered it fondly as one of my favorites from back then.
I was quite thrilled to find it displayed at my local bookstore.I picked up all three books to enjoy again. Once finished reading through them after so many years, I was thrilled to find that a fourth novel is coming out. It was truly a treasure to reread them, I only wish the fourth novel was coming out sooner.

Only update--the NEW editor (5th one so far) has some new revisions. She has only read book 1. Wants MORE about the old stuff/relationships which I think slows the book down considerably. Yet still wants to hold to the 1009 spring pub date. We will see. . .

Dragonsss makes post. Dragonsss LUVS Jane's books! Dragonsss is a huge fan of Sssaragon. I can't wait for your next book Jane! I was about to search for another series untill I finished the super fabulous "A Sending of Dragons" and found that "Dragon's Heart" was going to come out! Dragonsss pushes the Post button!

OK, official word from Houghton is the book is now on for May 2009, though that might move forward or back depending upon sales conference. And there's an official editor now as well.
So fingers crossed, it's a go.

All I know (and no one from Houghton has spoken to me directly)is that they have paid my entire advance--always a good sign--and so far things seem to be a go-ahead for spring 2009.
But I always wait for that second shoe (or fifth shoe in this case) to drop.
