Hey! I was wondering who the antagonist is in this book? Is it a specific person or the barcode supporters? Thanks :)

Hi! I am a big fan of your novels, especially Distant Waves. I read it when it first came out, and I know it's been a while now, but I was wondering if there is any possibility of a sequel in the future?

Hi Lynn, Funny you should ask this because I'm in negotiations on a movie for The Bar Code Tattoo but there is none yet. Kids post short BCT movies that they make on YouTube. (Maybe your class would want to make one.)SALT reminds me a little of The Bar Code in that it has a girl on the run against a giant power (I think there's a scene where Angeline Jolie walks out of a hospital in a borrowed suit that comes right out of BCT.) Otherwise, I can't think of anything. Hunger Games has some thematic overlap. Good luck with your class. Contact me with any questions.

I'm about to read The Barcode Tattoo with a summer remediation group. Is there a movie that you would recommend to pair this with? Something similar in theme or a good addition? Thanks for your help!!

To what address may my daughter send a snail mail letter to you? She was moved to write you by the Bar Code Tattoo. She's a voracious reader, but this is the first time she's written an author. Thank you, Melisa

Hi! Thanks for getting in touch! Laval: At the back of The BC Tattoo there is a brief essay on what gave me the idea for the book. I think the themes are well spelled out on the back cover, as well, and on the back cover of BC Rebellion, too. I knew someone who adopted the name Mfumbe since he was of African decent. It's from Cameroon, in Africa. I thought it sounded strong, like the character. Kearin: All a writer's work comes from the author's experience and imagination. Every emotion, every dream informs the writing. In the Bar Code books I tried to capture the loneliness I felt as a teen as well as the growing suspicion that the world wasn't entirely the honest, fair place I'd been told it was. What I loved was my friends and the good individuals I met along the way. (It still is.) In Reincarnation I dealt with the historical periods that resonated with me, such as the civil war which I've always felt emotional about. Even if the whole novel isn't autobiographical the small conversations and moments reflect things that have happened to me. In Wildwood Stables, it's the story of how my daughter kept an abandoned horse even though we couldn't afford to keep a horse. Destiny: Sorry, honey. I don't have a whole set of Forever Angels to send you. And in the future don't put your info on the internet.
