Our family had just an astounding safari with Mark Ross. He came highly recommended, as did Kenya, and both exceed our expectations by a long, long ways.
Its rather pathetic that folks would take an anonymous source as "fact", but that's the way of the modern world. The Squeaky Wheel gets the oil, but that also means its the worst wheel on the cart! So true in this case.
We feel so lucky to have had Mark as our guide and pilot, and would highly, highly recommend him to absolutely anyone, no hesitation.

Please, you all, honestly. We just finished our second safari with Mark a little while ago and, once again, we had the time of our lives. He couldn't have been more fun, more professional and more informative than he was.
Two of our group are journalists and the rule is always "two independent and verified sources", and these comments, with their cheap slander and anonymity are anything but that.
Mark is an incredibly well respected guide; guides for Mikato Safaris and National Geographic, and they've done their homework, we're sure.
Why not write Mark directly, as we did years ago, and get a list of references. I'm sure he'll be happy to supply one.
Enough of the cheap shots from jealous guides and men, or women who might have been upstaged by a truly wonderful person.

Hello Mark. Time goes by and we all get older, and hopefully a little wiser. At any rate, life is to short to spend time being angry. I have found myself mourning the loss of what I thought was a good friendship and I, for one, am ready to put the rift between us to bed once and for all. Therefore, here on this forum, I am sincerely appologizing for the part I have played in our dissagreement. I hope that we will never have need to speak of this again. I will send more in a personal email.

Simply put: As a professional, previously in the same business as Mark Ross and from my 'partner collaboration' trips with him, I can say with 100% authority that while Mark's field and academic knowledge is good, the negative multi-qualities documented in so many messages here, are TRUE ALSO. Enjoy your trip with MR if you will do one, but be warned and strong in your dealings, and, just don't believe it all.

There are more than a "few" personal grudges against Mark C. Ross, otherwise those he has worked with would not have come forward. He has lied to clients, manipulated clients, taken advantage of clients, and has even harassed clients (I know that first hand). Watch out if you are one of those women, like myself, who saw through this guy and didn't fall for his phony baloney when trying to get me into his tent! He is not used to being rejected! He made my life H___ the rest of the safari! One more thing...he is friends with one of the owners of Micato Safaris which is why he is in their brochure.
I am so tired of people sticking up for this guy. He is a disgrace to the profession...and a disgrace to Kenya!

Micato Safaris has been voted best safari by travel and leisure for 2003,2004,2005,2006,2007 and 2008. They would not continue to offer a safari with Mark Ross if he were not an excellent guide. It is too bad that a few with a personal grudge have tried to discredit him. Like most people, a safari with Mark would be out of reach pricewise but for those few who could afford it, it sounds like it would be a great adventure.

Let me tire, who ever has a negative impact towards mark please, please think twice. Just to go right to the matter of fact every one has his/her own weakness hence should not dwell on the mistakes but try to rectify that is the only way we can help each other in the society.I agree in one way or other that Mark has got hunger gets upset very fast and takes action right away but NOTE;It does not apply to his customers only even his family.I lived with him and his ex-wife Helen, whatever he used to do was wast but I urge you to pray for him its his weakness and lets admit it as it comes, Hope Mark you realize and take quick action in your life.YOU KNOW ME AND SORRY WITH WHAT HAPPENED. God bless you.
