About Sebastian's affair. There's a scene in Devil's book, where he is explaining to Honoria the outcome of Scandal's birth. They explain that Scandal was and accident, and that Sebastian loved Helena and didn’t intentionally set out to have an affair.
In Devils explanations, we find out that Sebastian was called away to Scotland to assist in a problem and that he returned soon after without any explanation to the outcome of the problem.
In ‘the promise in a kiss’ Sebastian is portrayed as a champion of women. The book details Sebastian’s assisting in situations, most of them involving women.
If we combine what we learnt in ‘Devil’s bride’ and ‘The promise in a kiss’, we can see that Sebastian wasn’t having an affair but he did unintentionally make a mistake by trying to assist a problem incorrectly. I can only put the affair down to his poor choice in how to rectify the situation. Or a moments weakness where he wanted to help a ‘damsel-in-distress’
I don’t really comprehend the importance of the affair in the story, however, I do believe that the affair assisted in showing us how powerful the Cynster family were in the ton. With the appearance of Scandal, we are shown once again the depth of Sebastian’s love for Helena, through his willingness to allow her to make Scandal her adopted child. Helena herself could be quoted in saying that Sebastian would of given her anything, particularly out of guilt.
On a different note. I too would love to find out how Sebastian died.

I have now read the first 4 cynster novels and I couldn't put them down. I am in the processing of ordering all the cynster novels. I love her love scenes they are so detailed and I love the fact that she has a story behind each book, like a mystery to solve whilst they fall in love. I plan next to buy the bastion club novels and start collecting.

Hello, This is my first time posting here. I love Stephanie Laurens' books. However, I am really confused about Sebastion's affair. I agree that all the men are so upright. Anyway, I love them! I do!

Yes, He did have a child from an affair with a Scotish lady. I am also confused since he is not portrayed to be having affairs. His first book, "The Promise in a Kiss" shows him to be such a loving and reputable man. I was hoping Stephanie would write another novel telling us what actually happened in Scotland (affair and the child).

Does anyone know how the first Male Cynster died? The 5th duke , father of Scandal and Devil. From Devil's bride and there after he is just "dead".

hi laura and misty -
about sebastion's "affair" - didn't i read somewhere that the woman died and the child that was the result of that affair was then presented to his wife which she accepted wholeheartedly? this might be a real stretch, but is it possible that this was purposely done because she could not have any other children? it just seemed like there was a hint that there was more to the story than what we have gotten so far? call me crazy!

I think I have all of Stephanie Laurens' audiobooks, but since I haven't been able to find out how many there are, I'm not sure.
Does anyone know how I can find out which books have been made into audiobooks?
Thanks, Belle
