David Hagberg Message Board

dave posts on 12/21/2005 1:01:27 PM This was my first read of Hagberg. Although I quickly grew weary of Hagberg's fondness of depicting each and every piece of military hardware by it full title (he must have gotten it from the box it was delivered in - excuse me - the box in which it was delivered), I persevered, nonetheless. Now my point. In the last chapter of the book, where the small dish antenna was placed on the pack ice between Lancaster Sound and Devon Island, can anyone tell me the relevance of this ending? - obvious to some, not to me.

Doug Bass posts on 9/18/2005 2:40:42 PM While I thought the book was well writen and did an excellent job at retaining the reader's attention, there are more military errors than the AH-1W being used as a troop transport. 1) Pharmacist's Mate? Not since 1948. 2) Engineer's Mate? Never (try Machinist's Mate). 3) CPO3? CPO or PO3, pick one! 4) Lieutenant Commander: LCDR, not Lt. Cmdr. I hope the technical data on sub systems was more accurate.

MJ posts on 5/14/2005 2:28:43 AM Hagberg should do better research on his Marine Corps helicopters...the AH-1W Super Cobra is not a transport helicopter as Hagberg depicts in the book. It is a two seat attack helicopter that cannot seat eight battle dressed soldiers as he states.
