Kincaid Lover: I also like this series a lot. One thing I especially like is Bernhardt's humor. To anyone who might be interested: There is a lot of 10 Bernhardt books from the Justice series at eBay. I would bid on it if I didn't have most of the books already.

This is one of my favorite mystery series, and unlike most series it gets better with each book. Usually after you read a few books in an author's series, it's like they've run out of ideas and they get kind of stupid; but with Ben Kincaid, each book actually gets better and better - more complex story lines, less predictable endings, and they're grounded in facts and research instead of just random stereotypes or whatever. I haven't read any of Bernhardt's books that aren't in the Kincaid series, so I don't know about those, but I highly recommend any of the Ben Kincaid mysteries (if you haven't read any, start at the beginning and work your way through chronologically to appreciate the character's development)

My favorite scene? Well after suffering through the ridiculous verbiage, that seems intentionally peppered with out of character phrases and words, and repulsive protagonists character attributes. Lets see, typical mis fit but talented cop/PHD alcoholic, addictive personality, violently abusive with blackouts, neglectful to her young relative, evasive and untruthful to her only friend. And lets see, her drunken implied rear entry sex act with a near stranger in an alley behind a bar. That was my favorite scene. Why, because it was at that point that I threw the book in the trash and received the relief of knowing that I had only wasted 5 bucks and an hour or so on it but would waste no more of my time. There are so many good reads out there, why waste time on junk like this.
