Oh, my God! I can't believe no one has started a discussion on Simon Hawke! Actually, I'm not a follower of fantasy or sci-fi, but I absolutely LOVE his Shakespeare & Symthe series. I can't wait for the next one. Perhaps he could start writing one a year. He certainly has a wide repertoire from which to choose,and he's almost as prolific a writer as "The Bard." True, I have a degree in English/history and have taught Shakespeare myself, but I can not believe that one has to have a similar educational background to appreciate this series. Yes, it helps with getting some of the irony and satire, but these books can/should be enjoyed simply for the witty dialogue, colorful settings, and crime fiction/mystery elements.
