Thought you might like to know that Olga passed away in April 2001 in New York City. I am a mature student doing research about Olga, and like you I found her book fascinating although profoundly disturbing.

this is to olga lengyel, thank you for writing the five chimneys, it was the very first book i ever read when it was given to me at age 16, it has taken me 31 years to find it again due to the fact i thought it was four chimneys, i am so glad you survived your horrific ordeal, if you have passed away i would like to let the family know that it was one book i would never forget for the rest of my life
thank you again
