Briscoe has wonderful poetic prose. She needs to write a true literary novel along the lines of "Possession" or "Lolita". She has the talent. She needs to stop tryng to produce a mass market money making summer sale paperback bestseller and become a writer writing great literature. "Sleep With Me" was a lost opportunity. Write in the third person - use old fashioned description not the modern trend for dialogue. Keep up the plot and structure and leave out the men. Complex ifs good if it's not a summer read! If you can't write convincingly about men - don't do it! women are more complex psychologically anyway. Briscoe needs to write the great London literary novel. Forget babies, families - there is more to life - write about politics, world events, romance, and pasychology.
