posts on 4/19/2006 12:26:20 AM I was a "Color Purple fan," until I read this novel. The 512 pages was daunting, at first. I normally read smaller books. But, once I started, I could not stop. There is so much realism. I think this could not have been written by a man. The story is set in modern times (1974 - 1993) and that made it more relevant. I'm now looking fto read the author's other books. Outstanding...and I'm sure it's going to be controversial, too.
