This book was so inspirational and moving. I could not put it down. Hard to believe such conditions existed there, so recently. My heart goes out to Nien. I wish I could meet her! I too wonder if she is alive. I know she settled in D.C. I would like to know if she is alive.

Very much enjoyed reading her book recently. Is the author still alive? What did she do in the US?
