Mark Twain Message Board

Donna posts on 2/22/2009 3:33:40 PM I purchased the book Life on the Mississippi, Author's National Edition, Volume IX all info I can get on this title do not match the book I have. This book is red, 481 pages, copyright 1903. It has a photo of him taken in 1883 and two or three other illustrations by E. H. Garrett. What really has me going is that on the back of the title page there is a handwritten paragraph that reads "This is the authorized Uniform Edition of all my books. Mark Twain. I have compared the signature with what is available for comparison online and its a match. Am I crazy, or do need to pursue this further? I can find no mention of this handwritten paragraph and signature anywhere. Could someone please help me? Respectfully submitted
