So far, and I am only half way through Veronica and intruigued by it, I think Gaitskill's short stories are perfect - pure art. Perhaps they are a better reflection of what goes on in her dark rich mind than a more rambling novel. She is one of the few writers who at all seems to think about things, especially the self, sex, men, "feelings" and experience itself in the same way that I do. As such I value her writing massively and would fall on any of her new work.
