I liked the bit where the son brings home two girls and some moonshine and they all get drunk and take their clothes off and these girls are twins and really know how to do the business and afterwards the son becomes a pimp for these girls...

As I Lay Dying Review

For people who have never read As I Lay Dying, it is important to know before hand to pay close attention to each character. Some characters are more reliable than others. There are some characters you can trust because they always tell the truth. Other characters are more opinionated so their views are more one sided. This story has a lot to offer, and whether it is well received by the audience; many people read it to see what the outcome is.
Broken up into fifty- nine different sections, each section is a monologue of the thoughts of one character. Some monologues are hard to follow because the story is written in stream of consciousness. The stream of consciousness style carries you through the random flow of each character’s thoughts. Many of the characters are not well educated; therefore their thoughts may be hard to understand. Vardamen has so much going through his mind that his thoughts jump around all the time.
As I Lay Dying revolves around Addie Bundren’s death and the family’s journey to bury her in Jefferson. Anse, the dad, has a big affect on the Bundren family. His lack of actions is what pulls the family apart. All of Addie’s children suffer because of bad decisions made. Vardamen, for example, is a young child who grows up in a dysfunctional family and is brought up without good influences.
Although the story may seem confusing, keep reading because it becomes clearer as you acquire more information about the situation. It is important to go into the book without any preconceived notions, but with an open and interested mind. This story is full of surprises and unexpected events that will keep you alert and interested.

I'm having such a hard time reading this book. I find it difficult to get a sence of time for example and even the first chapter had me confused about the name of a character Quenten. Sometimes male and sometimes female. I'm in the second chapter now. Let's hope it gets more understandaple
