Hi, Ms. Berg. I am beginning a book club here in Portland tonight and our first read is Talk Before Sleep. I am excited to see how having read your account of five women and their struggle to support their friend as she dies of cancer will promote some common threads within our new group. I very much enjoyed the characters you drew and the humor you employed throughout what could have been a morose situation. Thank you for your gift of story.

I read a book several years ago that I THINK was by Elizabeth Berg. There is a chapter (I think) where the husband tells the wife that he doesn't need her to comment on every experience that she/he/they have. That he can enjoy a sunset (an example) just fine without her filtering it through her frame of reference...so that he can have his own experience... Does this sound familiar to anybody? Thanks, Denise

I envy your phenominal gift of conveyence. I feel, as I am sure you hear so very often, as though you have been the fly on the wall of deepest thoughts. THAT is where I am sure you find your own pleasure most. It is far to obvious in your writing. Liz, you ROCK!!
