This is an intelligent and (mostly) sensitive portrayal of a family recovering from the suicide of a parent. Unfortunately, both of the father's in the book are not drawn as carefully and with the sensitivity as the other characters. Dale in particular is virtually a cartoon...another crazed Vietnam vet. If the fathers had been more carefully established this would have been a better book.

marya, i read your book when it first came out. i was in bad condition at the time. everthing you wrote about was so true.im much better now and in control. it's been 4 years now.i hope you are doing well.
