Does anyone know why Robb White wrote a second version of Our Virgin Island (1953) in 1985 with a new title, Two on the Isle. I heard that the first one was banned because it misrepresented the Virgin Islanders in an offensive way. Any views?

Read "The Lion's Paw" back in the mid-50's while attending North Miami Junior High School in North Miami, FL. It was--and still is--one of the very best juvenile fiction books ever written!! Robb White was a magnificent writer for kids. I'm 65 now and will purchase a used copy of "The Lion's Paw" for my grandson. Thanks for this marvelous website!!

the original Rev. Robb White who was rector of christ church in savannah, ga. is my great grand father. one of his 8 children was nell white my grandmother. I have followed the white family tree to even going to visit with Rodie way out behing the old plantation in thomasville a few years past. I have an original copy of the 1953 edition of readers digest which tells of the adventures of preacher white and also the parish book from St. thomas Episcopla church in thomasville. I have completed the entire geneological family tree of the white back to Hamden Aubrey white who married caroline battaile Fitzhugh and have since traced the origins of the original Fitzhugh to 1651 bedford england. so in short, If you ever would like to trace your roots back to the beginning, starting with Hamden aubrey white just give me an e-mail and I will gladly reply. My mothers family came from just down the road in Homerville ga. I was born in moultrie 1941.

I have a book, Flight into oblivion, by A.J. Hanna, published by Barnes & Noble, 1938 and 1959. On the inside of the jacket is a write-up about Robb White, on the other inside of the jacket is a write-up about the author, A. J. Hanna. I find no connection with Robb White and this book. I'm just wondering. Thank you, Bobby Jimmerson
