i can't remember when i've enjoyed a contemporary novel more than the wasp eater. it is beautifully written, heartfelt, and amazing in the complexity of honestly and sympathetically balancing the three lives in the drama of family change -- the mother, the son and the father. i will certainly search out further work by this author, and tell all who might be interested about this particular one.
