I just recently sterted the book and I am looking for (it pains me to say it) spoilers. I am only on page 100 and it is due by christmas break. I feel terrible for asking but im desperate. Could someone please explain the plot for me??

OK. How can I say this without sounding mean? The movie is awful, Kity is played by an actress who seems to be made of wood but at least stars a nice-looking Paul Newman. read the book first. The book has details abot nazi atrocities and russian pogroms that explain the attitudes of the people who established the state of israel.

Is the book like the movie? If not, what's the difference between them?

Patrick, Leon Uris is simply one of the best and brightest writers of all times. I just finished Armageddon and it was great. Exodus is my favorite by far, but equally compelling are Trinity and Redemption (both related to a family in Ireland). Try Trinity, you won't regret it.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Uris at his home on Shelter Island,NY several years ago. I have been a fan of his books for years, Exodus being my favorite. The ability he has to put deep emotions into words we can all understand is very rare. The short time I had to speak with him clearly showed me that this was an ability he had in his spoken, as well as written, language. His works are not for everyone but there can be few, if any, people that can not agree that his gift of language is one of a kind.

As far as I know, all of the characters in the main plot of the book are fictional. I'm guessing Mark Parker is based on Leon Uris himself; he was also a reporter. THere are numerous referecnces to real people and you can do a Google search to see whether they are real. For example, in Uris' passages about the Nazis, he references certain well-known war criminals. But Mark, Ari, David, Kitty Fremont, Dov are fictional.

I'm a new freshman at a new school, and I got an assignment to research this book, (after having read it all summer) and see whether or not the characters are fictitious. I have been searching for HOURS, and still it seems that I haven't come up with much of anything. Please help me! Thank you.

I also have recently read this book. What's on your mind?

I recently read the book Exodus by Leon Uris and was wondering if anyone was willing to discuss the book with me: the plot, ending, characters.

There are a few book that ignite the mind... but there are even a fewer that ignite the soul..! Exodus is one such book, that when started although it seems a little slow , although the mood commences a little monotonous ... But as things proceed one really grasps, whats behind the plethora of words that Uris has put in , we realize what he wants us to know from them , we realize how his soul has bled in describing what has happened , we share his sense of sorrow , of joy , of rage , of content , of undying spirit to go on , and of undaunted hope to reach the promised land...! Exodus is one such book that , may seem to get a little trying at the start , but as we reach the end we feel that we have gained something , that we know now, that we understand and that Life is a little more meaningful than before..! p.s : There are some posts that criticize Uris for his writing , although i completely am in respect of everyone's sentiments ... but i would deeply request them thru my prespective...!
