Okay, I've only ever read the terminator trilogy that Stirling put out a while back. How are the rest of his books? Are they as action packed as that series or what? Just thought I'd ask before I gave him another try?

So now I hear In the Courts of the Crimson Kings has been delayed from this November to next March. That leaves me deeply saddened.

Hey everybody I went to the trouble of using this site's cumbersome book review format for Stirling's Sky People and it isn't posted! Thanks for nothing. By the way it is a good, but not great, book.

First, to Mr. Stirling, I want to say thank you so much for the DtF Trilogy. I just finished MaC (rationing to only so many pages per day) and I am sad to have finished. But I'm glad about the next 3 installments of the Changed world starting next. But in the meantime, I think some short stories about the East Coast, the midwest or the Hill Country in Texas would be most interesting. These books really awoke my sense of how alienated we are in urban life. Yeah, it's a trite statement, but it's true. One question. In the second meeting between the allies and the Protectorate (in Sept. 3rd-4th 2008 year 10), there was no battle was there? Because afterwards, the narrator spoke of Bearkillers in bandages, but I don't remember any recent battles before the March Protectorate failed offensive.

What a great great idea for a novel! John Carter On Mars redux.

Does anyone know if there is going to be a follow on book to Conquistador? A really good book about an alternative universe. Thanks, Don Vosgien

Of course our protagonists would survive a homo-drakensis onslaught. The Samothracian cyber soldiers with their suitcase fabers would be right behind them. Remember the ship watching Ingolffson's first attempt at a wormhole? It was obvious that the decedants of the western democracies were far advanced of the Draka and would be able to spot the tunneling into the Changed world. What I'd really like to see, since you brought it up, is the Drakinsis stumbling on an advanced spacefaring race that was again as ruthless as they are, forcing them into an alliance purely for the survival of all three branches of the human race (including the servus).

Recently, I had a very weird idea. What if the "Alien Space Bats" who caused the "Change" in the "Dies the Fire" books were Draka and their modified Homo servus slaves experimenting with trying to move from their alternate universe to our universe in DRAKON. It might have been an experiment going wrong which caused the "Change" in the DtF and the Nantucket series. After all one subplot of DRAKON were the efforts of Gwen Ingolfson and the Drakensis of her time line to reach each other. Iow, what if the monstrous Drakensis show up in the DtF world? If that is what happens, I can't really see how the Bearkillers, the Protectorate, Mackenzies, and the other remnants around the post Change could escape being conquered by the Draka. Just a thought! I have read the "Island in the Sea of Time" trilogy and the first two "Dies the Fire" books. So are we ever going to find out what caused the storm that sent Nantucket into the past and changed the nature of physics in the world left behind? I'm sincerely hoping for an answer in the upcoming "A Meeting at Corvallis."
