I'm reading Death of a Gentle Lady at the moment. It's good, but I must be having a bad day as I find the character of Hamish is beginning to grate on my nerves with his constant peevishness, and his childlike behaviour around women. How old is he supposed to be anyhow?

I just read "Death of a Celebrity". At a funeral there is a quote supposedly from Corinthians, "a time to love and a time to die." This should be Ecclesiastes 3.
The correct version is "a time to love and a time to hate."
Most Church of Scotland ministers would indeed read the passage from 1 Corinthians 15 dealing with the resurrection of the dead.
The Hamish books are delightful.

Although I think British readers would prefer that Hamish eventually marry Priscilla Halburton-Smythe, I think most American readers would prefer for him to marry Elspeth Grant. I wish I could find an Elspeth Grant in real life!
In Death Of A Dreamer, Det. Chief Inspector Blair breaks his leg and his collarbone, and he uses crutches; but Hamish later tells a friend that Blair broke his arm and collarbone! (Sorry, I was an editor!)

MC Beaton is not only a woman she is many women and has written at least a hundred books under a series of pseudonyms including Marion Chesney the M C of her Beaton persona. If you google her you are in for a big surprise

I started out with the newest one, Love, Lies, and Liquor and was so impressed that I had to start from the beginning. This is one very fascinating author.

I have read every Agatha Raisin book and enjoyed them all I felt that the last one left it open for another book wondering when it will come out.
First heard a reading of the book on radio 4 Penelope Keith playing Agatha that was when I went to find the books

I have almost completed the book which is the first Beaton book I have read. I found it for $5.00 in the Book Bazaar, a used and rare book store on Bank Street in Ottawa. I am enjoying the book and I am a little surprised to find out that M.C. Beaton is a woman author.
