Margaret L posts on 6/9/2013 11:28:51 PM My name is Margaret L,a sober alcoholic. My Hebrew name is Penina. I am the descendant of Rabbi Eleazar Halevi, Headmaster and Friend of Montefiori, founder of the first yeshiva in England. I was not born a Jew, having descended through my father's side of the family, and the rest of my family is not Jewish, but I am in the process of conversion and I have always been a Jew in my heart (is that not the most important place?) I know you are a very busy and important man, but I wanted to take the time to thank you for having written so many works, which touch so many aspects of my life. I am only 2 days sober, but I have the support of a loving sponsor, a home group online (I am unable to get to a f2f meeting due to strokes). Most important, I have the love and support of our Glorious God. I am in addition a bipolar, and I know you understand how this can complicate recovery. Have you written, or would you consider writing a work about the nature of dual disorders? Thank You very much for your time. With much Love and Reverence, Penina.
gary polonsky posts on 7/9/2011 2:38:20 AM Hello, I am the grandson of Rabbi Samuel Polonsky, born in Pavolich, Russia/Ukraine in 1879 and died in Winnipeg in 1980. He had two brothers in Pittsburgh, Charlie and Abe, as well as a sister, Ruth.
Jeffrey Mark Paull posts on 10/18/2010 5:14:35 AM Dear Rabbi Dr. Twerski, My name is Dr. Jeffrey Mark Paull. My Hebrew name is Menakhem Nahum Polonsky. I was born and raised in Pittsburgh, and am a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, and Johns Hopkins University, where I earned my doctorate of Public Health degree. If my Hebrew name sounds familiar to you, it is because we are both descendants of the esteemed Rabbi Menakhem Nahum Twerski of Chernobil. I discovered this during my genealogical research of the Polonsky family, a project which I have been working on for almost three years now. I am a descendant of the Polonsky rabbinical lineage. I am the 6th great-grandson of Rabbi Shmuel Polonsky, ABD of Ekaterinopol, who married Sarah Rachel Sheindel, the daughter of the illustrious Rabbi Pinchas of Koretz. I am also the 7th great-grandson of Rabbi Aryeh Leib, better known as the Shpoler Zeyda. Rabbi Shmuel Polonsky's grandson was Rabbi Eliyahu Pinchas Polonsky, ABD of Ekaterinopol. Eliyahu's wife was Sima Wertheim. It is through this marriage that I am descended from the Twerski rabbinical lineage. I am in the process of writing two books on the history and lineage of the Polonsky family. I hope to publish the first of these two books very soon -- hopefully in December or January. Because I am from Pittsburgh, and my mother still lives there, I was wondering if you would like to meet one of your newest (or, depending how you look at it, one of your most ancient) family members, during my next trip in to Pittsburgh. Please feel free to contact me by email. It would be both a great honor, and a real pleasure to hear from you. Kol Tuv, Jeffrey Mark Paull Walnut Creek, CA

Gloria Wolfson posts on 9/5/2010 5:41:09 PM I am looking for information about someone who might possibly be my great great grandfather. His name was Rabbi Hanoch halevi Krupnick and he was a disciple of Rabbi Duvid of Tolna whom I am given to understand is one of the Twerskys. My fathers name (he was born in 1907) was Hanoch ben Duvid HaLevi Krupnick and my grandfathers name was Duvid Tzvi ben Ze'ev Halevi Krupnick. My grandfather was born in Ukraine/Russia/Roumania in about 1868. Do you have any information on this Rabbi? Do you have (or know where I can find it) any birthdates or do you know if he (Rabbi Krupnick) had a son Ze'ev? Thanks for your help.

We live in fear of his next scam. Please let me know who we can talk to for advice...to run an intervention. He needs immediate inpatient help but will be resistant.

Tziporah posts on 2/26/2010 12:39:07 AM Rabbi Twerski, My husband and I are at dangerous risk of ending our marriage. Our Shalom Bayis issues have become so serious that we cannot go on this way. We have consulted marriage counsellors in the past, and my husband is now unwilling to go. However, with Hashem's help he has "as a last resort" agreed that we speak /learn with a Rabbi and/or Rebbezin in order to help us. He is non-observant, and I am a baalas teshuva. Our issues go beyond our religious differences. If possible, could you direct us to the most appropriate Rav in the Toronto area, as this is really our only chance to save our family. Thank you so much.
Mrs Harubi posts on 1/20/2010 4:10:26 PM Dear Rabbi, My husband and i have been married for almost two years now and Baruch Hashem have an 11month old son. My husband has seen many therapists for some psychological issues he has but its still there. He has like compulsive thoughts in his head a lot of the day that he cannot shift. They used to be about me and how he cannot trust me and anywhere i looked he would go crazy. He saw a few therapists and psychiatrists in israel and now we have moved back to london he saw another psychologist and did CBT which helped and controlled the thoughts about me but they are still there 6months later just about other things. He wants to now go on anti depressants as he still says he is unhappy and cannot suffer with his head any longer. I don't trust all these therapists anymore, i have read many of your books and heard you speak a few times in neve. I really would like your advice, i'm finding it really hard and i don't know what to say to him anymore. PLease rav i know you are so busy but i beg you to call me and give us your wise and experienced advice. best regards (0044)7972565711
