Recently got all excited thinking that one of my all time favourite books was being made into a movie. Big mistake obviously. Why hasn't someone optioned this book? It was a bestseller and exremely marketable to the industry one would think. I am totally confused, absolute rubbish is getting produced and a top story like this doesn't!! Why?????

I would just like to know why the best book I have ever read has been cheaply plagiarised into a poorly put together movie with no real substantial story line. If Jeff Long does happen to read this I would just like to know if he is going to do anything about it?

Dear Jeff,
When I started reading THE RECKONING, I remembered MICKELSSON'S GHOST by John Gardner. Remembering that novel, I wanted to see how you would develop your novel. I liked the book. The setting was very good--Especially with the theme of water and the secrets that it could reveal to Molly.
THE RECKONING was the first of your works that I have encountered. The book was in my registration bookbag when I attended Bouchercon36 in Chicago. I live in Chicago.
Your work impressed me. I was especially pleased with how the novel was able to come to closure so seeminglly effortlessly. I enjoy a novel more when the author can end the story in such a way that it encompasses all of the paths and issues that the story brought forth.
Good luck,
Dennis

I went to high school with the pilot and his wife. She and I are still very close friends. We are talking about a book about the entire scene. Drop me a line if you are interesting it opening up any dialog.
