Can anyone identify the Bible verse witheld in the last paragraph of The Moon and Sixpence?

it is called moon and sixpence, because the hero of the story has nothing but inspiration and genialty in his way of showing the world his art. he doesn't have money, and he doesn't care, because his interest is not to be a rich man, but to paint. in two words, he has the moon, for his inspiration, and sixpence to feet himself from a day to another. does my answer satisfy you?

As for the symbol on most of his books, it is Maugham's personal sigil and he had it placed on everything from hair brushes and shaving kits to his villa in France. It came from a symbol of the Berbers' that Maugham's father brought home with him.

What is the symbol on most of his books? I have seen it often and cannot find the significance of it mentioned anywhere.
