I love the book and the movie. It is gut wrenching to the point I wantd to wail on "Daddy Glen". Coincedently, I am a Boatwright from Graniteville, SC. My mom's name is Ruth, her grandmother was Annie, her uncle was Earl. I have a neice that resembles the "Bone" character in the movie, and my husband(a painter who carries a knife, like Earl in the book) and I call her "Hambone". At first, I watched the movie because I was told of the similarities to my family, then I just had to read the book. One of my all time favorites.

This book is very true to society and someone is getting sexually abused by their loved on every minute and people in the world need to know that. I look up to this author because she had the courage and strength to write about such a strong topic and we should respect that.this book was written very strongly.

I'm sorry, this is a horribly written book. Allison drags out the novel with a plot that could've been written in a quarter of the length. A lot of it is really trivial so the story is completely watered down and just painful to get through.

Did Allison Dorothy make a movie about the book Bastard out of Carolina?

What a gut wrenching movie. Ms. Allison has written a book that tells the world about the pain of poverty, physical, and sexual abuse in a way like no ever movie has done before. My hope is that the boo, and movie provide catharsis for Ms. Allison, and to all people who are healing from abuse.

Does anyone know how to contact MS. Allison?

I haven't read the book yet, I soooooo wanna though. But I can't really compare them. But I have seen the movie, and anyone that thinks the movie is rediculis is retarted and needs to watch it again. Because it's a sad and depressing matter, and it happens in this world every minute.
