Wolfe loses the weight in the last of the "Zeck trilogy" (can't recall the name) when almost certain mortal threat forces him to abandon the Brownstone and disappear.

I have a question. Does anyone remember which book it was that had to do with Nero dropping out of sight and loosing alot of weight to disquise himself from an enemy? Not even Archie knew where he was. If you can remember the name of the book, please email me! Thanks, Deb

These stories are exceptionally written. Personally I enjoy listening to them on tape as read by Michael Prichard, who does a very good job. After reading or listening to virtually everything written by Stout, I must say many of the story lines and plots run second to the antics and humor that is depicted by Archie, Wolfe's goper and side kick. I generally do not agree with some posters as to the intelligence of Archie. He never appears to anticipate anything Wolfe is detecting. If Rex Stout fans have not read or listened to "Too many cooks", I would suggest this book very highly. I do not think many Stout stories are as whimsically written.

I agree with Julia about how Rex Stout writes. I have read all of his books and I never liked mysteries till I read Rex Stout's books. His books make you feel as if your in the room with Archie and Nero or getting info on someone with Saul, Orrie or Fred.

I think that Rex Stout was an absolut genious what it comes writing novels. What is so special about his books is that they contein so much more than just a crime. The whole atmosphere in Nero Wolfes house is inspirating. When ever I´m feeling down I comfort my self reading the cases of Wolfe "written" by Archie.
