I disagree with the Alagrs looking like Native Americans, sure their customs are similiar, but the Algars come from the clearly Anglo-Saxon inspired Alorn bloodline, with their hatred of Angaraks and suspicion of non-alorn races I find it hard to believe they would breed with other races to the extent as to remove their likeness from that of the clearly "white-skinned" Alorns. As for actors Zeta-jones seems the clear choice for Polgara(Was always my pick),but also I think Anthony Hopkins as Belgarath(Such a diverse actor for a diverse character, Johnny Depp as Torak(Torak was "beautiful" before he cracked the world), Sean Bean as Durnik (For a great fantasy epic Sean Bean must die! ie: LOTR and Game of thrones)!

Sorry, that should say 'order' they were published!

I agree with loran. Read them in the prefer they were published. If you haven't read them before then belgarath and polgara will spoil the 1st 2 series and u will know what happens.

Steve - I actually disagree with you. I felt that with the Pawn of Prophecy you feel & see the innocence and discovery of the Prophecy with Garion. I thought that Polgara and Belgarath filled in the necessary holes. Its a matter of taste ~ cheers! Loran

Actually, I'd start w/ Belgareth the Sorcerer, then Polgara the Sorceress, then move on to Pawn of Prophecy and continue w/ the rest of the Belgariad and Mallorean series. That way you can read the series in the chronological time frame of the characters as they age forward.

Thank you for your advice Loran Z I look forward to this adventure :)

The place to start is with The Belgariad Series Book #1 "The Pawn of Prophecy" read the entire Belgariad through book #5 then move on to The Malloreon books #1 - #5. After that you can read Polgara, Belgarath, and finally read "The Rivan Codex: Ancient Texts of THE BELGARIAD and THE MALLOREON"

Polgara - CZJ - yes. Silk - how about bradley cooper? he's got a rattish quality...don't know if he could act it though...what about edward norton? garion - absolutely an unknown ce'nedra - isla fisher belgarath - sean connery would be great. i want clive owen in there somewhere...zakath? velvet - rachel mcadams. she's got the dimples and the sweetness but can do the wolf in sheep's clothing thing. i definitely pictured the murgos as asians...with the eye descriptions... and agree with the algars being native americans.

Totally agree with Megan Fox as Zandramas. I used to think Angie Jolie but she is too old now!
