Augusten Burroughs Message Board

chantelle hartigan posts on 10/22/2009 12:29:29 PM This book rules, it's a piece of artwork I cant wait for the next book from augusten, I feel like he's hit a centre point with all his readers, making them realise life is not about the downfalls of human life but the greater need to be gentle to one's near and dearest.

Diane posts on 10/28/2006 12:35:59 AM I thought that Running with scissors was a story that may have been true but that the author just tried make up more and more crazy stuff which in the end just becomes really stupid. There are alot of crazy people in the world but was therte no-one in the whole book with even a little common sense? I think a book needs to be at least a bit believable to be enjoyed. Diane

Diane McErlain posts on 9/19/2005 10:45:02 AM "Running with Scissors" I was swapping books at a local book shop and after reading the layout on the back cover I would have paid anything to have read it. Luckily for me $6 after swapping 5 priceless books I held it in my hands. I took it home and read it, called in sick the next day and finished it, painstaking. I wanted to stop, I wanted to through it away, to close to many of my own ill-fated tragedy's but augusten's jest in circumstance's one could only wilt away in, left me feeling more determined and even more empowered. To know if this little boy who I have no doubt was not so jovial within his journey, trauma can reflect in words as well as he that in years to come he remained always Nulli Secundus.
Chantel posts on 3/10/2005 1:30:25 PM I think that Augusten Burroughs is an excellent and extremely interesting writer. He is brutally honest in areas most people will not go near.
