Which book are you refering to? In "Little House On the Prairie" there were two Osage Indians who wore skunk skins while Ma fixed them cornbread to eat before Pa came home from hunting. But there are other indian visits refered to in the series. All of the Wilder books are interesting to read, giving us a legacy of pioneer day adventures that even the young child of today would enjoy to have their parent read out loud to them. - Rita Crosley

Does anyone know when the Osage Indian came to the house when "Pa" was out hunting what kind of animal fur was the Indian wearing?

Summary of "On the Banks of Plum Creek", from an adult perspective:
The Ingalls family leaves Indian Territory with little to show for their time there. Charles doesn't want to admit failure, so they don't return to Wisconsin. With little money in his pocket, he settles for a sod house built into the bank of a creek.
This is the first opportunity for the Ingalls girls to live near a town, attend school and interact with other children since they left Wisconsin.
The girls meet their antagonist, Nellie Olsen, a town girl who is weathly and snobby.
This is one of my favorite of the Little House books. They are settled in a place that makes Ma happy, and the girls get to experience new adventures in what I perceive as a "safer" setting.

When I first read this book i loved it.
So then I said that i was going to read it for a report. this book rocks my socks.

If you're talking about the section of Little House on the Prairie, Carrie isn't mentioned. However, she was already born at that time because she rode in the wagon with them from the Big Woods of Wisconsin. It's funny, but I never thought of that until now.
I've tried to get my 11 year old to read these books. She's read the "remixed" versions and the beginner books, but these aren't her type of book. I couldn't get her to read Bobbsey Twins either, and those along with the Laura books were my favorites growing up.

When the ingalls had their illness, I believe that Carrie wasn't born at that time, BUt then again I could be wrong. I could to some research if you would like.

When the Ingalls family was so sick with "fever and ague" where was Carrie? She was not mentioned in Laura's description of their illness.
