Marlys Millhiser Message Board

Peggy Anderson posts on 6/2/2009 7:12:45 PM I loved reading the book and have 2 copies and also a letter she wrote to me. I will treasure it forever. Marlys, please write a sequel to The Mirror.
john B posts on 1/26/2008 2:12:19 PM I bought the book The Mirror almost 30 years ago when I was a kid, at a used book store. I am now 41, and I have that SAME copy now, weathered and worn, which I have read at least once every two or three years. I never get tired of it and would like to let MM know that it is a book that I have treasured for years. I cringe when i think of the day that my copy will eventually fall apart and i will have to (hopefully) be able to find another copy. It is the only book I have ever read more than FIVE times.
Debby hallett posts on 10/20/2007 8:36:32 PM Read this book 25 years ago, how I wish I still had mine. Would Love to read it again. I lent mine to a work friend. She went away to school. Can you Please tell me where I can get a copy. Good books are hard to fine as are fiends. Nema died in a car crash one year later. The Mirror is one of the greatest books I have ever read, Thank you Debby

Jane Ann Sears posts on 11/17/2006 9:53:17 PM My aunt was an avid reader and gave me The Mirror to read when she finished it and coudn't stop telling me how much she loved it. That was sometime in my teen years. I consumed that book and kept the copy. I read it again in my twenties. I found the book in a box in the basement and gave it to my teenage daughter to read. She loved it and I just finished re-reading it for the third time, now in my thirties. I will save the book for my next daughter (who is 8 years old)and probably read it again in my fourties and beyond. The story is incredible and I often think of it as my grandmother and I have somewhat parallel lives...it is strange.
Dani posts on 3/15/2006 1:41:48 AM I have five hard-bound copies of this book just to let you know how much I love it. I re-read it every six months just because it gives me hope that one day there'll be a daughter-in-law who will love it as well. Shay was as incredible young woman who loved her first mother-in-law without reservation, and made her part of her family after she had remarried! We should all be so blessed.
w coutts posts on 3/15/2006 1:29:58 AM bought The Mirror in the 80s in a used bookstore, read it till it fell apart. I found it again a few years later, again read it til it fell apart. A few months ago I went into Coles bookstore and had them order it for me. I never tire of reading that book. I named my daughter Kathleen Shay.
Janet Bright posts on 3/6/2006 12:04:29 PM Otta Sue Hill asked if Marlys wrote a sequel to The Mirror. No, there was no followup to this book, my most favorite of all time. It's the only book I finished and immediately started rereading it, and have reread many other times, as well as loaning it to others. While on a trip to Boulder shortly after it was published, I looked in the phone book and found Marlys listed - called her and she graciously said I could come over. She autographed a hardcover book of The Mirror from her basement, as well as the one I was carrying with me. My husband took a picture of me with Marlys, and she told me where the "gingerbread" house that inspired the book was, which I also photographed. Unfortunately, I LOST the roll of film before we got back home. Her next book was The Threshold, her only other book dealing with time travel. It was good but nothing could compare to The Mirror. I wanted so much for it to become a 3-part mini-series, as no mere movie could have dealt with the complexity of the three women, and had created in my mind the perfect actors to portray everyone. I haven't read The Mirror in several years, and you've made me want to get it out and visit with these wonderful characters again.
Otta Sue Hill posts on 3/6/2006 11:07:13 AM I have not reread The Mirror since who knows when - early 1980s? Unpacking many books that have been in storage for 17 years or s0, I came across my copy and am rereading it now. Cannot find this info anywhere - Did Marlys Millhiser write a sequel or companion book of The Mirror???? If she did, would someone please give me the title? Thank You OSHill
holly posts on 9/18/2005 9:51:04 PM why wasn't this book ever made into a movie?
