Despite some flaws I found ms. Nadel account of life in Istanbul absolutely riveting. The scenes with the murderer Ersoy and his victim were done quite well. How realistic this is I leave to others more familiar with Turkish society.

I just finished reading one of her books that has me confused.
The cover said: "The Ottoman Cage" but the pages had "Chemical Prison" at the top of each page.
Which book did read?

I just finished reading The Ottoman Cage in about 2 days. I was intrigued by some good details and interesting plot. However,(and I thought this was funny) while I was reading some of the dialogues between the characters, I often found myself questioning about the true nationality of the author. It seemed like some of the dialogues between Turkish characters were translated into English by a Turkish person and the author simply placed them. This created bumpy and run-on paragraphs which,in my opinion, unusual in English literature I have read so far. Except Cetin Ikmen's the names were unrealistic. Finally, for God's sake who edited this book??? But overall it was a page turner...
