I love the Isabel Dalhousie series. The 1st one is The Sunday Philosophy Club. I think there are 7 so far. The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency are easy, nice reads. I did not enjoy the 44 Scotland Street series, I didn't have any feelings for the characters the way they are in Alexander's other books. Go to his website to find the order of his books as there are so many to enjoy.

Alexander McCall Smith has very generously signed and donated the 5 book range of Ladies Detective Agency novels to help our charity, CHV.
The book is being auctioned RIGHT NOW, with all money raised helping many socially deprived children. The charity, CHV, based in Edinburgh, is the UKs only student-run children's charity and is a recognized society of Edinburgh University. The aim is to give children from the Edinburgh region a break from their home environments and offer supportive and fun experiences through long-term, regular contact.
