Corrine Strang posts on 3/26/2011 5:44:04 PM Sheryl, I, too, have 1 of your husband's POW bracelets, that I recently discovered in an old jewelry box. As a teenager, I wore it faithfully for many yrs., then kept it tucked away, never knowing his war history, until recently doing research on the internet. It would be my pleasure to send it to you, if you so desire. Sincerely, Corrine Strang
Lilli Schilling posts on 4/2/2009 5:50:45 PM Ms. Stafford - as you can see my name is Lilli and I have the POW bracelet with your husband's name on it. I was him on TV when he came home and wanted to contact him to give him the bracelet but time has a way of getting away from all of us. When I was going through my old jewelry box I came across it again and again decided to try and find him. Well with the help of the interest I found that he has passed but I still would LOVE for you to have the bracelet. I wore until I got married and then put it in my memories jewelry box. Please feel free to contact me. Lilli (McKenzie) Schilling Sacramento, CA
J.H. de Raat posts on 12/18/2007 4:43:46 PM Mrs. Stafford, I knew Al at St. John's College when he was a sophomore & I was a freshman. His death was reported in the latest issue (fall 2007) of the college alumni magazine. There was no other information. I've written something about him for the magazine, with citations to several websites, including an interview you gave back in 2001 & Geoffrey Noble's memoir. Please do get in touch with me. Thank you.
