I have not read this novel yet, although I will after now having seen the movie, Gettysburg, which was based on the book. I am very interested to know how and why Michael Shaara came up with the title for the novel, The Killer Angels. The movie makes it seem as though the title refers to the Union Army or perhaps more specifically to the troops commanded by Col. Chamberlain in the 20th Maine, but I would love to find a statement specifically from the author on this point.
