Emma Kennedy Message Board

posts on 5/12/2006 5:00:28 AM How dismaying to read the analyzation of this book. The main character was the female protagonist. Not the male. Hint: it began and ended with her. Another hint: the larger number of scenes were written in her POV. The information about the male protag is wrong and most likely the result of cursory skimming. He is Turkish, a secular Muslim, and although born in Germany has US citizenship. (Not uncommon. I know a number of people with this heritage pattern.) Also: the villians are Serbs ---not Islamists. (hence the quest for the icon) Islamists may be today's buzz, but they are not in this book. Even my high school students read more closely than this. Emma Kennedy--
