What exactly is Elf-heaven like? Message Board

Post to this discussion forum - J.R.R. Tolkien book reviews

The land beyond the water in the west was the land of Elf-heaven, where the Elves, and special guest stars such as Gandalf, Bilbo, Frodo, and Sam went. But what exactly is it like there? Do they play elven versions of shuffleboard and bocci? Do you think they keep dwarves out because they'll just dirty up the place? What do you think Elrond et.al. do all the time there?

They prefer to be called Them they have told me. Elf-Heaven looks like Elrond´s and Galadriel´s homes but even more beautiful. But, Elfs do not live in Heaven. Elfs used to live on earth. "Them" were their parents. Some elfs were born in a human body on earht. They were the "highest" kind of elfs. Them are very beautiful, and the same goes for every other person in the spiritworld. Them are dressed in plain white clothes and they are even "more" than most of the Gods.

Elfs are half human being and half of "Thus", or Them if you prefer. Thus are more than Gods and we have the ultimate power in the spiritworld. They are full of Love, Kindness, wisdom, they are good at heart and powerful. You will know for certain if you are in contact with Them. What Them do in their Heaven (and ours in a kind of way) is all good. They do not really play games for fun, but they dance like in older earth-age sometimes and they love to sing. Just for "pausing" in their work of helping all kinds of creations. Them want to help us with the spelling and pronounciation of names and words. Sweden 0708-123347

I totally agree with Jay, if a regular mortal, like , well, lets just say Hama was alive , I don't think he would be able to go to Valinor , only the elves, the golodhrim ,can go over the sea .

The 'Elf-Heaven' you describe is the continent of Aman, the main section where everyone resides in is Valinor. The Elves, the Maiar and the Valar with special guests, eg: Tuor, Frodo, Sam, etc. all live there in this unchanging, timeless, bliss. It is a land of plenty, beauty and where you can literally bump into gods. It is the Elves homeland before they went to live in Middle Earth (well actually they came from Cuivenen in ME, but for the sake of this post let's just say Valinor was their homeland). Like the other poster said, it doesn't exist in the ordinary world/realm, it's on another plane of existence that only the Elves and the divine can reach. It used to belong in the ordinary world until some Men of the Numenor Race decided to take it upon themselves to invade Valinor, in response to this invasion, these Men were supposedly buried alive as the continent was lifted from the ordinary world into this new plane by Eru- the big boss God of everything. As for what one does in Valinor- well depends really. Special guests like Frodo and Sam would of enjoyed exploring the area, Gandalf who is really a Maiar would of went to many reunion parties, as would many Elves who spent most of their lives in ME. As for the other Maiar and Valar they would of kept on maintaing, watching and guarding the world- being the godly beings that they are. The Elves who have always lived in Valinor, would of always done what they have done- sew, build, paint, whatever strikes their fancy. They have all time to do whatever they want as long as it's doing good, of course.

It's not really an "elf-heaven" and the Grey Havens are just the port to leave from. Sorry if I go a little detailed here, but thats okay. The Elves are the chosen race; thats why they are the ones that are allowed to sail the Belegaer and reach Aman, the real name of the "elf heaven" Aman was the original Earth until Eru created Middle-earth. The Valar and other Ainur live in Aman and it is a world of peace and prosperity. However, not everyone can reach Aman. This land has been lifted and exists only in "the void." Only Elven ships can sail across it. Gimli and Legolas, Frodo and Gandalf are all allowed because they played a tremendous role in the War of the Ring. If you want to know more, read the books.
